MiFID is the acronym for Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, which through the directive 2004/39/CE issued by the European Parliament and Council on April 21st 2004 defines the guidelines for the implementation of an effective and competitive integrated financial market within the European Union. The MiFID directive and the subsequent implementing directive 2006/73/CE were both acknowledged in Italy in 2007 by means of the Legislative Decree n. 164/2007.
